Day 2 – I Got Into UNC-G! December 27, 2011

While I have known that I got into UNC-G for a couple of days now, and was reassured by countless friends not to sweat it I’ll get in, it is still a great feeling to open a big navy blue envelope and read “Congratulations!”.  About a month and half ago I got a rejection letter from the school that “everyone get’s into”. Needless to say, that totally hurt. It was also very surprising considering that fact that I’ve made the Dean’s List, am member of the honor society, have a sparkly GPA, volunteer when I can, and teach basic engineering concepts to children using LEGOS. And that’s me totally being modest. Kids, college applications are not a place to be modest, you have to sell yourself. So what I did was sat in my Daddy’s lap and cried in frustration, and then marched my butt over to admissions and very professionally and politely asked for the reason I was rejected. That answer was very simple; I hadn’t completed two classes required for transfer, two classes I was documented as taking that semester. Could they have said that I was tentatively admitted? Yes, from what I understand that is what they normally do. But that doesn’t matter now. After awaiting some nail-bitter grades I got in!

This is me sporting a Target t-shirt, hand-me-down jeans, elderly running shoes, a necklace my parents got me at a gift shop called Sisters, and my totally real acceptance letter to UNC-G! This look perfectly fit for a Dr.’s visit (sans letter of course).
